Diversity in Reading
For a project, I gathered a large collection of texts and learning resources that could be used for students to learn about aspects of a specific Virginia Standard of Learning. These resources include picture books, interactive interviews, longer non-fiction texts, and educational videos.
These texts were chosen for the set because they aim to appeal to a wide range of students. While students on lower reading levels would enjoy texts such as the picture book or "Schoolhouse" video, advanced readers would be challenged with texts that have higher readability levels. An ability to differentiate in a classroom can go a long way for a teacher. Recognizing that you will have a diverse classroom, containing students on all sorts of different levels, will be important in ensuring that every student be excited to learn and succeed. |
