Assessment and Evaluation
Evaluating students and attempting to assess their knowledge or ability to recollect pieces of content has become a controversial topic in the public education sector. As a future Social Studies teacher who will aim to promote literacy, an ability to be creative in assessing students can be quite beneficial.
In my college secondary education coursework, we have learned about the need for students to feel connected to the work that they accomplish. Teachers can assign tests and essays, and often times they can be adequate means of assessing students. With that being said, assessment techniques that engage students are much more meaningful for both the teacher and student. This writing notebook contains several different assignments that aims for students to recount key content addressed in the standards, but then makes students consider pieces of their own lives. |
