Curriculum and Instruction
As a future social studies educator, it is important to utilize a "well-balanced, integrated, and comprehensive literary curriculum" (International Literacy Association) so that a teacher can appeal to various types of learners.
Since reading is such a crucial component of learning in Social Studies classes, a teacher can incorporate various strategies that will aide in getting students excited to read and learn. Reading Routine activities are a great way to diversify pre-reading or post-reading learning. If a teacher can implement a variety of activities throughout their curriculum, then students will become more effective with their reading and writing. Ultimately, a reading will be where students extract important content, themes, or other pieces of information. If a teacher uses different reading-related activities properly, then they will aide students in being able to gather even more content! |
